What we add on top of machine translation
The problem with general-purpose machine translation at conferences is not that it fails to produce a translation — it is that it is inconsistent. The same organization is named two different ways ten minutes apart; the same technical concept is phrased differently each time. Listeners start to doubt everything else.
We add a step on either side of translation:
- Before — glossary substitution: proper nouns follow the wording agreed before the event
- After — consistency checking: an identical source fragment produces an identical translation for the whole event
Multilingual events
A single session can output Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean at the same time. The main screen carries the primary language pair; the rest reach participants through the mobile caption view, where they choose the language they want.
Working with interpreters
For sessions where the stakes are highest, a correction channel can be given to human interpreters: the machine output serves as a first pass and the interpreter corrects what matters, giving you both speed and accuracy.
