Background
Annual technical training for APAC distributors, taught in Chinese, with participants from Japan, Korea, Thailand and Indonesia.
The challenge
- Five consecutive days, more than six hours each
- Four languages delivered in parallel
- Course material needed in every language; the previous process relied on human translation and took weeks
What we did
- Participants scanned a code to open the caption view and chose their own language — nothing to install
- A dedicated glossary was built for equipment models and component names
- Chapter-segmented transcripts and four-language translations were generated at the end of each day
Outcome
Production of course material went from three weeks to same-day, and negative feedback on "language barrier" in the post-training survey dropped markedly.
「Participants no longer wait for translated material — what they read during the session is the material.」
